Remedy for Foot Pain

Labors and physical workers use their legs for most of their work. And it is this structure among the various part of the human body that is subjected to wear and tear of muscles. This can be proved if you notice any worker who has not even been to a gym having a nice big thigh muscle. It is because the legs hold your weight while helping in your work.

People like athletes, runners and physical workers are prone to injury of the leg causing pain on top of the foot. This is due to bone spur. To explain in layman’s terms bone spur is nothing but a bump of the enlarged bone causing pain on top of the foot.

Wearing tight shoes or wrong walking manners may cause bone spur. This causes the bone from flexing resulting in stiffness in the toe region. Conditions such as mentioned above are known as Hallux rigidus. This condition of Hallux rigidus affects people from the age group of 30 to 60. No one is sure as to why this affects some people and why not the others but a theory have been speculated that this is due to the injury of the toe resulted from the damage of the articular cartilage.

Non surgical treatments for the above condition are many. Among them usage of oral medicine is recommended by most of the doctors and preferred by many patients. Ibuprofen has been found useful in reducing the pain and swelling. Alternatively soaking the affected part of your foot in cold water and hot water has also been found affective.

But the above mentioned remedies provide temporary relief. To avoid pain on top of the foot wear shoes with plenty of room in the toe region allowing space for your toes. It is an added advantage if the sole is made in such a way that it absorbs most of the shocks. Some doctors advice to wear shoes with metal bracings at the bottom of the sole. The metal bracing keeps the muscle safe from being bent and allows the toe in stiff position.

And now about the bathing of the affected part in cold and warm water, first bath the foot in cold water and after a period of time allow it to be bathed in warm water where the muscle is relaxed to reduce inflammation. For this process to be completed the requirement is of two large buckets, one containing the cold water and the other the hot water whose temperature should be above the room temperature and tolerable for the skin. Immersion of the foot in the bucket should be done alternatively and while ending the session, end with immersing your foot in the cold water.

Surgical options can be considered if the pain becomes unbearable. The pain arising from this type of injury becomes intolerable and as time passes one finds it hard to cope up with it. This option is one time remedy and might be a lot cheaper than buying medicines for months which becomes costly.
