Quick Remedies for Tension Headaches

There is no pain that is mind bogging or mentally tiring like a tension . We all are facing tension headache and it is becoming quite common these days. It affects your productivity at workplace, your social existence and overall well being.  After a tension headache you feel physically tired and mentally drained. Anxiety and stress are common causes of this headache. The moment you get worried or tense about something and it constantly bothers you, you tend to develop tension headache, anxiety, insufficient sleep, and above all worries and problems give rise to a tension headache.

Now whatever may be the cause for a tension headache, it can be prevented. You don’t need to bear the pain when you have the option to cure it. Let us know about some remedies that can help you get rid of and you will be surprised to discover that you can prevent as well as have solution for a tension headache.

A useful technique to reduce tension headaches is to tighten muscles in neck, jaws and head for 5-10 seconds and slowly release it. You will discover that this simple exercise can give you relief to a greater extent. This exercise actually helps making muscles flexible and reduces pain caused due to exhaustion and stress.

There are some very important acupressure points at head temples that can help relieving the tension. Put your fingers on both temples and massage in circular motion. Every time you experience a tension headache massage for one minute. Though there are many unnoticed acupressure points that helps release tension when pressed firmly. So try searching head or neck for points that turn to be sensitive to the pressure. Press those points for minimum 5 seconds and then relax for 5 seconds and repeat the same several times.

Another remedy that you can try to relieve tension headache is by rolling the pillow in shape of a log and place the pillow under your neck in such a way that your head hangs over the pillow edge. Roll the head back and forth and also let your head hang over pillow edge while you are relaxing. If this exercise is done in initial stages of tension headache, it also helps tension headache from getting severe.

While you are at workplace or working on the desk, make sure your posture should be straight as improper poster causes stressed back and neck muscles. If you think the chair at your workplace or at home aren’t giving you comfort or right posture while sitting, you need to replace it or find a solution for it. Sometimes lights with white fluorescent (cool) also in offices lead to tension headaches. Instead full spectrum lights should be used to avoid headaches. Lastly avoid drinking coffee in large amounts as it also causes tension headaches in a lot of people. Instead replace your coffee with herbal tea, which also helps you to relax. These tips are surely going to work and you can get rid of tension headaches easily.
